The Story Of What Came Next   -  10 Years Of Powtunes
Total Running Time: 32 mins 37 sec.
To celebrate 10 years of Powtunes music, we have put
together this compilation of our favourite Powtunes tracks.
We were so excited about this project that we also
decided to add some brand new tracks,  including the
first Vickers Pike release in 10 Years!
For our own indulgence, and just in case you're interested (!),
we have listed on this page any details we could think of about
each of the tunes on the album!!  You will note whilst reading
that the name 'Barnaby Oliver' crops up alot!!   We would like to
take this opportunity to thank Barney for the considerable time
and effort he put into helping make this project happen |

Doug:  "This was put together from a little melody that had been
floating around my head for a while, along with a clip of a speech
by 60's freedom of speech campaigner Mario Savio that we
spotted on TV. Tony then developed the idea, doing wonders with
the speech sample, incorporating a tasty beat, and adding some
crunchy and eerie guitar!" |

Tony Vickers : Programming, Guitars & Bass
Barnaby Oliver : Synthesizers

Tony: This version was actually intended to be the RMX,
however when I heard both mixes I opted for this instrumental
version. However we still included the vocal mix as a bonus
track which was my vocal debut!."

Doug:  "I suppose this was my attempt at a 'Zorba The Greek' type
thing on the bouzouki (!), whilst the title comes from my tendancy
a few years back to visit different places in the world to run
marathons!!"

Tony:  "This was my attempt in creating an industrial Dub track,
at the time I was listening to a lot of experimental Dub, and
this was the outcome. Not bad, huh? What surprises people is
that it was actually recorded on mine & Doug’s old four track
tape machine."

Tony Vickers : Drums, Samples
Doug Pike : Bass
Paul Forest : Guitars
Mixed By John Blakely,  Mastered By Barnaby Oliver
First released on the Powtunes EP "Whatever Came Next...Bill?"
Doug: "This was effectively the first ever Powtunes track! It
originated from practice sessions at the ramshackle old boathouse
on the river Thames in Reading that Tony's uncle rented at that time,
featuring just me on bass and Tony on drums. Initially, it was purely
instrumental until Tony dug out some old grainy audio clips from
'The Invisible Man' film featuring the great Claud Rains. To my
astonishment at the time, the samples worked really well, and the
resultant track ultimately set the tone for what Powtunes is all about."

Tony Vickers : Programming, Guitars, Bass, Vocals

Tony: "The lyrics were inspired by the 1967 Sci-Fi / Thriller film
‘’Night Of The Big Heat’’, starring my screen hero Peter Cushing.
It’s about a heatwave hitting the remote Scottish island of Fara,
and the rising temperatures are due to alien visitors!! Classic
stuff…"
